Xiaomi may make Android 7.0 Nougat OS available to over a dozen devices like Xiaomi Mi 5, Redmi Note 3, Mi 4s and Redmi Note 3.
Most Xiaomi smartphones may have not received the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update but people have started talking about the Android 7.0 Nougat update schedule. It is reported that the Chinese technology giant will roll out Google's latest operating system to most of its devices, including the Redmi Note 3 and Redmi 3.
Xiaomi Mi 5, Mi Max and Mi 4 currently run Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Interestingly, reports are doing the rounds that Xiaomi will upgrade all its handsets starting from the Redmi 1s to Marshmallow on Aug. 16. If it turns true, it could be that the company is trying to roll out the firmware before the arrival of Android 7.0 Nougat.
Now, a report by XiaomiAdvices has claimed that the company may make Android 7.0 Nougat OS available to over a dozen devices like Xiaomi Mi 5, Redmi Note 3, Mi 4s, Mi 4c, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi 3, Redmi 3s, Redmi 3A, Mi Max, Mi Note, Mi Note Pro, Mi Pad 2, and Mi 4i. The new firmware may first come to top-end devices like the Mi 5 and Mi Max, but going by the pace at which Xiaomi brings software updates, it may come only in 2017.
Android 7.0 Nougat will most probably be made available to the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X before rolling out to handsets from OEM companies like Samsung, LG, HTC, Motorola, Asus, OnePlus and several others. The firmware is expected to be introduced through the successors of the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X.
Google has already released four developer previews of the firmware but its final version is yet to arrive. An official from the search giant had earlier revealed that the OS will be made public by the end of this summer, which means it should come in August.
It may be mentioned that Android 7.0 Nougat comes with features like multi-window, direct reply notifications, improved Java 8 language support, Extra power efficiency, Clear All, Data saver, Google Assistant, VR interface, Improved file browser, Seamless updates, Screen Zoom, Instant Apps, App switch, bundled notifications and new emojis.
